Summary:Jared Padalecki is a young man living hand to mouth, trying to save the only two friends he has in the world. Jensen ackles is a man with a broken heart and dented pride, and enters Jareds life long enough to leave him with a drawing and a dream of what Jared could have had. When one of Jareds friends dies tragically, Jared is left with no choice but to run, and ends up living a life that isnt his, a life that he can never have. What happens when Jensen finds Jared living in the house meant for the fiance that broke his heart, and can they come to an arrangement that suits them both?
Warning: I dont know if there is a warning really for this.....I know I cried when I finished writing this chapter........but there is no non-con.

Chapter 21

Jensen was pacing like a caged animal when Chris returned over an hour later, a grim set to his face and blood on his fist. Neither Jensen nor Steve commented, and honestly, neither man cared much at this point. They both knew that whatever had happened, David had deserved it and much more besides.

“Did he say anything? Does he know where they have him?”

Chris shook his head as he washed up at the sink, “No Jen, sorry dude, I did ask as he was spitting out his own teeth but the man had only been interested in paying Jared back for making him look foolish and getting him out of the way so he could get you back under his thumb. He didn’t put it as nicely as that mind you...but you get the idea...”

Jensen resumed his agitated pacing, running his hands through his hair and chewing on his bottom lip, he stopped and faced the two men watching, “Seriously guys, this is fucking madness right? We can’t just sit here and wait! Jared is out there....he is out there somewhere and he needs us....damnit he needs me.....I should go look for him, I can’t stay here while he....”

Steve stepped up and placed his hands firmly on his shoulders, “Jensen stop it. Where exactly are you going to look for him huh? Where are you going to start? How long would it take you to even start to try and look? Do you have any idea? I’m sorry dude but Chad is our best shot here ok? Give Chad a shot, he will find out something and get back, and I know the police are worth jack shit in a situation like this but at least they are aware that something is going down now ok?”

“Oh Steve come on, you know as well as I do that there was no evidence that Jared was taken! They’re not gonna lift a fucking finger until they have a body and you know it! I have to go out there....he got to him....he got to him and it’s my fault!”

“Jensen! Stop it man! This isn’t your fault; none of this is your fault! You want to lay blame at someone’s door there is a fucking whole line of people you can start with, but you are most certianly not one of them alright? And trust me dude, David won’t be a problem to you or Jared anymore, he will be too busy learning how to fucking walk again for the next while.”

Jensen flopped down onto the edge of the couch and let his head hang for a few seconds, “God Chris, this has to be a fucking joke...a sick fucking joke....I mean who does this? This doesn’t happen to us right? I’m an architect! Just a simple fucking architect! Jared....Jesus guys.....he just wants to be left alone, just start again....he has done nothing to deserve this shit....it has to be a fucking joke.....”

Chris sat down beside and wordlessly pressed drink into Jensen’s hand, there was nothing he could say to make this better, nothing, and it ate at him to see Jensen like this.

“Chris you should have seen him the last couple of days, he really let some walls down you know? We were getting places, he was talking...letting me in...He was smiling and laughing and you saw him right? Wasn’t he just fucking beautiful? He was letting me in....what’s this going to do to him now? God what if we are too late and that bastard has........guys what are we going to do?”

Chris swallowed thickly and looked away; knowing Jensen wasn’t expecting an answer. Jensen knew there was nothing to do now but wait and pray Chad got back to them sooner rather than later.

The next time Jared opened his eyes he was surprised at the clarity. He still felt weak but his head was clearer and he knew they had stopped giving him whatever shit they had been giving him. Why? Why had they stopped?

He pushed himself up and leaned against the headboard at his back and gazed around, blinking in the dim light, his head clearer than it had been for some time and gazed around. He was in a basement, a makeshift room had been thrown together and all he had was a bed a table beside it with a glass of water set on it. His throat was dry and he longed to take a drink but he was afraid. What if they put something in it?

“It’s ok to drink it, it’s clear I promise.”

Roberts’s deep tone had Jared jerking back violently on the bed as Robert pushed out from the corner he had been observing Jared from. He approached the bad and perched on the edge and watched with sympathy as the large man tried to make himself as small as possible in one corner. He sighed,

“I’m sorry it came to this Jared, I really am, but you gotto understand my position here. You’re mine now, there is nothing you can do to get out of this, I paid for you, and I know I know you’re not a piece of meat to be sold at will I know....but....that’s not how I work son, you’re mine. I will have you. I do have you.”

He moved closer to Jared on the narrow bed and almost absentmindedly lifted his hand to move Jared’s bangs aside, speaking softly as he did so,

“Now I need you to man up and face the situation ok? I was wrong to try and keep you drugged, and you almost paid dearly for my mistake. But I’ve made my position clear to the others now and you won’t be touched again, not unless I say so anyway.”

Jared’s eyes widened and Robert smiled, “Jared, you are very beautiful and alluring and special, and I want to be good to you I do, I don’t believe in rape and I have never forced myself on anyone who didn’t want to be taken, not really. I want you, you know that, I want you in the most intimate way; I want to make you mine. But I need you to come to me willingly you hear?”

He trailed a finger down Jared’s face and across his mouth and leaned forward, pressing a light kiss to Jared’s frozen mouth. “Now I could threaten you with all sorts of things. For instance, I could tell you I have your friend Chad in my employ now and I could loan him out to some very very rough men, I could even tell you that my patience won’t last long with you and I might decide to bring someone in here who isn’t as nice as me to break you in for me, just so you would get the message you belong to me now, but I won’t do that cause I care about you. So drink your water, I will arrange for some food to be brought down, you must be hungry and you can eat and clear your head a little. There will be no more drugs, not unless you give me reason, and I will be back a little later and you can let me know what you decide alright?”

He leaned in again, grasping Jared’s face with one hand in a tight bruising grip and kissed him hard, forcing his mouth open and his tongue inside while Jared fought him with what little strength he had. When Robert pulled back he was smiling, “I just know you’re gonna be worth all the waiting, don’t disappoint me now. I will see you later.”

He walked out of the room, leaving Jared bewildered and worried and under no illusions as to the threats he had just made. As long as he had Chad under his control, Jared didn’t see that he was being given any real choice at all.

It was almost one a.m. and Chris was seriously considering tying Jensen down to something to stop him carrying out his continuing threat to go look for Jared himself, when there were two hasty raps on the door. Before Chris or Steve could register the fact, Jensen was out of the seat he was perched at the edge of and was ushering a flushed Chad inside.

Speaking wasn’t even an option Jensen could consider at this point, all he could do was stare wide eyed and expectantly at Chad who was at this point gratefully gulping down the much needed stiff drink Steve was handing him.

Too many nightmare scenarios had flown through Jensen’s head by this point, and coupled with the late hour and Chad’s delay in getting back to them, they were now vividly running through his head again. They were going to be too late, he just knew it, and he would never get Jared back. God he didn’t care what state he was in at this point, he just wanted him alive, and he would worry about the rest of it once he had him alive.

Chad dropped the glass down on the table beside him and turned to the waiting men. “We don’t have much time, I know where they have him but fuck guys we don’t have much time.”

Jensen’s voice was hoarse and forced but he needed to know “Do you know if he is ok? Is he alright? Chad please....tell me you know something!”

Chad rubbed his face with his hands and when he spoke he was looking directly at Jensen, “Robert came back a couple hours ago and he was furious, from what I could make out, and from what I could get one of the others to tell me, cause believe me Robert don’t want me knowing shit about Jared at this point, but, when they took him they drugged him, so he wouldn’t put up to much of a fight. Anyway....Robert ordered him to be kept drugged, I don’t know why, only Robert knows, but anyway....someone tried....when Roberts back was turned someone tried to rape him....but they stopped it before it got too far, Jared is ok according to my source.”

He walked away from the men gathered around him and drew a few breaths, “After that Robert issued Jared with an ultimatum, either he gave in to Robert or....”

Chris took a step forward, Jensen was rooted to the spot, afraid to move, with Steve’s hands on his shoulders, “Or what Chad?”

“He threatened Jared with me apparently......not in an obvious way but enough that the picture was made clear.....We don’t have time, we have to go get him out now....Jared....he won’t put me in danger....the stupid ass will try and protect me.....he thinks I’m in serious danger, he has no idea I’m ok and I’m with you guys.....God why does he have to be such a fucking stupid ass!”

“Where is he?” The growl came from Jensen and Chris looked in his direction, seeing a pair of narrowed green eyes locked on Chad.

Chad snorted and shook his head, “You’re not gonna believe it, the bastard has him at Patricks place, he is in the basement of the bar, under lock and key. It was Patrick who tried to....anyway, seems Patrick won’t be trying anything for a while.....but Robert is headed back there soon....he got called away to beat up some other poor schmuck but he is headed back as soon as he is done.”

He moved to stand in front of Jensen and spoke softly “You’ve got to understand Jensen, please don’t hate Jared for this. I know him, and I know he will give in to Robert if he thinks he is saving me from harm. We are family, I’m the only real family he has ever known and it’s the way of things here, he thinks he is protecting me. I’m going to kick his ass for being such a fucking martyr, I’m tired of telling him I can handle myself, he seems to think I constantly need saving from myself. He would do it in a heartbeat for you too, please understand?”

Chris tried to read Jensen’s normally expressive face as he turned away from Chad, but his expression was closed off and it scared Chris. This was way more than anyone would have expected Jensen to sign up for and he had no way of knowing how Jensen was going to handle anything from here on in. Jensen reached for a light jacket and nodded to Steve who picked up the keys to the truck, they moved to the door, before Jensen stopped and looked back, the closed expression still on his face. “Then let’s get him out before Robert gets back.”

Jared was walking up and down the small space, using the wall for support as he moved slowly. It had taken a while for him to get his feet under him, and a couple falls, but he had done it. His head was spinning, and he felt like vomiting, but he was unsure if that was the drugs or what he knew was about to happen.

He had spent the most of his time pacing, telling himself it was only a body, he could do this...he could do this and Chad would be ok, he would make sure Chad would be ok. He had already done so much to keep Jared safe, and what was one man huh? He could do this.

Unbidden for the hundredth time, Jensen came into his mind and he felt hot tears gather at his eyes. After this Jensen wouldn’t look at him, he wouldn’t blame him either, no one wanted someone tainted, someone worthless....his heart felt tight in his chest as Jensen’s beautiful face swam in front of eyes. He had been so close.....so damn close to perfection.....to a life he had only ever dreamed about, a life he thought he would never have. But now it was so clear it was never meant to be, he had been living a lie, a silly dream and Jensen didn’t deserve to be dragged down like this. He had been living someone else’s life, but it was time to stop now. Man up as Robert had said.......

He moved to lean with his back against the wall and stood there, his whole body shaking. He held his hands out in front of him and stared almost fascinated as they shook violently in front of his face. Drugs or fear....take your pick at this stage he thought to himself and sniggered almost manically as he clutched his shaking hands to his chest and rocked forward trying to get his rapid breathing under control.

Get a grip! He could do this! Hell Chad did this every day of his life! He could do this and it would be over and Chad would be safe and life would go on. He bent almost in two, his hands moving to clutch his shirt in fists and a sob rose and mixed with the panicked breathing. Jensen......he fisted his hands into his eyes in an effort to block him out, Jensen.....another sob fought its way free and he collapsed on the floor on his haunches and curled into a ball. He would never forgive him, and he wouldn’t expect him to.....

Jensen......

The sounds of footsteps halted all thought and he crawled back up to a standing position and using the wall for support once again, staring with wide eyed panic as the key turned in the lock and the door opened slowly. Robert stood framed in the door, his massive body taking up the whole doorway and Jared hitched a breath as Robert’s eyes fell on the empty bed and moved around the room and fell upon the man staring back, eyes wild with fear.

Taking a step into the room and shutting the door behind him and twisting the lock, Robert leaned back against it and regarded Jared silently. Jared fought for breath and opened his mouth to speak but no words came. Robert’s mouth tilted up in a hint of a smile but still never spoke, but waited for Jared to get the words out.

“Chad...” He cleared his throat and tried again, his voice sounding hoarse with fear “He will be safe? You will leave him be?”

Robert nodded and shifted one step into the room and stopped with his hands in his pockets, “Your boyfriend Jensen too.”

Jared’s eyes widened even further and he stopped breathing as he stared in horror back at Robert. Robert smiled fully then and took another step, never removing his hands from his pockets.

“Oh yes, he is here you know....in L.A. him and a couple others, looking for you. Chad thinks he is clever, thinks I don’t know what he has been doing, but he underestimates me. He led me straight to your Jensen and his friends. As a matter of fact...” He took one hand out of his pocket and gazed at the time “Round about now, I would expect him to be racing to your boyfriend’s place....to tell him where you are, I presume the will come straight here, they think I’m uhhh otherwise occupied....” He lowered his voice on a low chuckle and continued “What they don’t know is I have men waiting, your Jensen doesn’t stand a chance, and he is oh so pretty isn’t he Jared? I could like him...” He took another step forward which left him only about two steps away from Jared’s rigid frame “It’s up to you son, you can save him, I grow tired of your pussy footing Jared, what is it to be huh? You, or your Jensen and the ever accommodating Chad?”

Jared furiously fought the tears that threatened and struggled to breathe around rising panic.

Jensen......

“You will leave them alone? Let them go?”

Robert nodded and took a cell phone from his pocket and held it out, “They are just waiting for my call....”

“What about me? Will you...when it’s done....you let me in peace? You leave me go and don’t come looking again right?”

Robert considered him for a moment and took the final two steps forward, running his hands down over Jared’s face and thumbing his mouth, he sighed and eventually nodded, “You have my word....maybe afterwards you might change your mind huh?”

Jared shifted his face away from Robert’s touch and shook his head, “I won’t...”

Robert took a step back and held up the cell phone again...

“Well? What’s it to be?”

Jared closed his eyes and leaning back against the wall, palms flat, clinging to the wall as if to draw strength, nodded as a lone tear fell unchecked down his face.

He listened with eyes still shut as Robert made a quick call and ordered that Jensen remain untouched and allowed Chad freedom of movement.

He didn’t open his eyes as he felt Robert press his huge body against his and he didn’t fight the tears that fell as he plundered his mouth. As he was led to the narrow bed and as Robert used his huge frame to push him down onto it, Jared clung to the memory of Jensen’s touch. Jensen’s smile swam in front of his tightly closed eyes as he was stripped of his sweatpants and tears wet the pillow behind him as Robert finally claimed the man who had haunted his dreams for months.
