Chapter 15 here

3 years later:

Jensen tried to keep his rising excitement in check. He loved his life, he loved Jared and he loved the travelling they did, but damn it felt good to be coming home again, even if it was just for a few weeks. He sat back against the plush leather seats of the car they had hired at the airport when they had landed and gazed out the window as Jared manoeuvred the car toward the heart of Dallas. A hand on his knee drew his attention toward Jared and the other man smiled softly, not a hint of a shadow on his face as he risked a glance at Jensen in the stalled traffic.

“It’s ok to be excited you know” he smiled at Jensen, and Jensen shook his head at how well Jared knew him. He should have known that the other man would be aware and he felt a rush of love again for Jared. They were so in tune with each other after three years it was scary sometimes. He took Jareds free hand in his, threading their fingers and raising it to his lip he kissed Jareds fingers softly;

“Thank you, for doing this for me” he whispered in a soft voice, and felt a tug on his hand and raised his face to Jareds;

“Don’t thank me baby, it was time we came home anyway, I wouldn’t be anywhere else, you know that.”

Jensen nodded and leaned over to plant a soft kiss on Jareds waiting lips, “I’m so proud of Chris and the guys Jay, a number one album and a C.M.A. award, and now they come back here to play a gig in the bar they started out in.”

Jared pulled the car into a space outside Chads apartment and turning off the engine he turned to Jensen and grinned, “Don’t forget the fantastically talented songwriter who penned 90% of the songs on that number one album and the award that he has on his shelf in Paris, and I’m incredibly proud of that songwriter.”

He leaned over and kissed Jensen lightly on the lips, “Stop selling yourself short dude, now come on before Chad sends out a search party”

“God, can you believe it’s been three years Jay?” He looked around him as they stepped out of the car and headed for the apartment on the top floor.

“Nope, It’s hard to believe it’s been so long since we took off...are you happy Jen?”

Jensen turned to pull Jared into his arms in the elevator, and pulled his head down for a long deep kiss, finally letting Jared go and gazing at him through blown pupils, “You bet your ass I am!” He grinned at the frequent question Jared asked. Every few weeks, no matter where they were, and usually when they were at their most content Jared would ask him was he happy, and the answer was always the same. He was so happy he sometimes felt guilty, sure he was robbing someone else of theirs he was that happy and Jared knew it and would grin wide and bright at his answer every time and he did now, arms wrapped around Jensen grinning down at him as the elevator doors opened and they stepped out onto Chads floor.

Chad had the door swung wide before they could knock on it and his grin was wide enough to split his face and his eyes shone with excitement, He grabbed the two bags the men carried and dropped them inside the door pulling first Jared in for a hug before embracing Jensen;

“Damn it’s about time you two got here!” He held Jensen at arm’s length and regarded both men with obvious glee. “God it’s good to see you guys!”

Jared rolled his eyes good naturedly as he threw his arms around Jensen’s shoulders, gently manoeuvring him away from Chad’s excited embrace, “Hey, hands off my man dude and you saw us last year in Paris remember?”

Chad led the way into the living room, before offering beer which both men refused, instead requesting coffee, jet lag was beginning to set in and they wanted to stay awake to give their bodies a chance to catch up. Ten minutes later they sat with coffee mugs in hand and Jared glanced around the room;

“Where’s Sophia?” he asked looking around the room for any sign she had even been there.

“She sends her love, but she won’t be making it up for a few days, she has a few days filming left before she is done.”

Jared raised an eyebrow, “I hope she is taking it easy, she has to look after my god child you know!”

Chad chuckled, “Man she is one stubborn woman, absolutely refuses to slow down, but she is doing great, no worries at all Jay”

Jensen leaned back against Jareds shoulder and stretched his legs out and heaved a sigh “Good to hear, she is one cool lady”

“I know” Chad answered softly, thinking of his wife of 18 mths, who was currently three months from giving birth to their first born, he had never been happier and looking at the two men stretched out on the couch, starting to doze while leaning curled in on each other he knew for a fact they both had never been happier. He sighed as five minutes later, both Jared and Jensen lost their battle with sleep and he covered them lightly with a throw as they slept and crept to the kitchen to call Chris to let him know they had arrived safe and sound and were now sleeping.

Chad left them sleep for two hours before shaking them awake with a smile and herding them off for showers before they headed out to meet up with Chris and the gang. After a light dinner they finally entered the bar where the small gig was in full swing. The bar was packed and the three men took some time making their way to the side of the stage area and Jared headed to the bar returning some minutes later hot and sweaty from making his way through the crowds, with three beers in hand.

He took off the jacket her wore and slung it over the back of the seat they were sitting on and Jensens breath caught in his throat, just like it did every single time he saw Jared. The man was simply exquisite and three years had only enhanced the man that he now could call his with love and pride. Jared turned back from throwing his jacket muscles flexing under his light t shirt and catching the look on Jensens face smiled wide and knowing and he didn’t have to speak for Jensen to know what he was saying. God how he loved this man, he sat back leaning against the arm Jared now had thrown over the back of the seat and relaxed as Jareds fingertips lightly caressed the back of his neck. Chris had spotted them by now and after a quick hello over the microphone and an introduction to the crowd, he launched into the first song that he and Steve had recorded as a group, and Jensen could only smile up at Jared as the words of that very first song he wrote washed over them and the memory of the night he sang it to Jared in a bar here in Dallas. God how things had changed since then.

Chad had taken the recording to the producers of the movie he had been working on and had talked them into using it on the soundtrack and everything had just launched from there. The song had been a massive hit with the movie goers and the Country music scene and Jensen had been contacted about royalties and more song writing contracts, and Chris and Steve’s career had taken off and now all five men were close friends and although Jensen missed them terribly he knew he would never change a single thing that had happened in the last three years.

After they had left here they had headed for the countryside of France, and had spent six months just working their way across the country, neither really needing to, Jared having enough royalties from his book and Jensen having enough savings, but Jensen soon saw the joy in just working day to day and loving and laughing and getting to know one another in the best way possible. He watched every last shadow disappear from Jareds eyes and he fell in love all over again with the man that emerged. Jared was naturally a man who loved to smile and laugh and to see this emerge was breathtaking. He was kind, generous to a fault and god how he loved Jensen and showed him in every possible way every day.

After six months they had landed in the city of Paris and there Jensen had met the man who had come as close as any man to Jared before Jensen had arrived and claimed his heart again. Sebastian was a truly beautiful man, both inside and out, with a soft French accent coal black hair and searing blue eyes that held nothing but a gentleness that comes from deep within, and he welcomed Jensen with open arms and not a hint of jealousy or animosity and soon Jensen regarded him as highly as Jared did and he became a close and valuable friend to the men as they settled in the city that was to become their home base on their many travels.

For the next two and a half years they travelled and wrote and Jared showed Jensen the world as he saw it and Jensen loved every second. They spent a summer in Italy and there Jensen completed most of the songs for the now award winning album, they wintered in Australia where Jared finished an emotional and healing book on his love and his life and how one man healed a lifetime of hurt.

The following year the book was a massive success and Jared’s refusal to return to the states for interviews only added to the man’s mystery and escalated the sales. They spent a couple of months travelling across Europe seeing cities like the beautiful Amsterdam and the gorgeous and peaceful Leiden in Holland, they were spellbound by Antwerp and enthralled with London, and they fell in love with the wild and restless feeling of the green Irish countryside, but they always came back to their home in Paris and Jensen didn’t see that changing anytime soon. He loved Texas and he loved his country, but he loved the life he had now with the man who adored him and loved him with every fibre of his being and he had never felt more loved and cherished and he wasn’t giving that up for anything.

The crowd erupting into a massive applause and cheer dragged Jensen out of his musings and a few minutes later he hugged a joyful Chris to him as Jared shook hands with Steve.

“Shit Jensen its damn good to see you! You look good man!”

Jensen grinned over at Jared and answered, “I feel good Chris, I feel real good.”

Jared made his way to Jensen’s side then and as Chris held his hand out to shake Jared grabbed it and pulled him close, clapping him on the back and Chris could only grin at the completely different man standing before him.

“Well hell boys that’s enough damn hugging for one night! We got some serious catching up to do here!”

As the crowd began to thin out, five men sat and talked and laughed into the early hours and as Jared sat back and regarded the group of friends before him, he blessed the day he had come back here. For all the heartache and pain had been worth it in his eyes, he now had the love of the man he had spent a lot of his adult life running from.

They were planning their biggest trip yet, soon they were heading out to travel China in the next couple of months, so until then it felt good to kick back and relax and just enjoy the company of his friends and the love of Jensen Ackles.
